Skunked!

One would think that living in the city, we would never have to worry about skunks. Last night proved that theory to be very wrong.  I was taking the dog out for a late walk when we both got skunked.

While painfully smelly, and trust me it is painful, you can fix the problem.

The old wives tale to bath in tomato juice does nothing.
My recipe for de-skunking a dog (or yourself)

2 cups hydrogen peroxide.
2 cups vinegar
a good squirt of dish soap.

Wet down your pet and then apply the mixture.  Allow it to sit for 10-15 min and wash off.  We did this twice the night of, and once today.  You now have a de-skunked dog, congratulations!

I just wanted to be friends!

Unfortunately the skunk got us on the patio so the smell has seeped into the apartment.  I washed everything that came near the skunk.  I also have placed small bowls of baking soda sprinkled with tangerine essential oil to help absorb and cut through the smell.

A crock pot filled with water, half an orange, two sticks of cinnamon and some nutmeg made our  made our house smell like christmas instead of skunk.
